My first post from my iPhone
I must say, I can't remember the last time something was so hyped and I wasn't woefully disappointed when I actually got my hands on it. I feel the iPhone lives up to the promises. The interface is a actually smoother than I ever imagined, the web browsing is better than any mobile device that I ever used, and setup couldn't have been easier.
The big question is could it replace a Blackberry? I never had one myself, but having tried some of my friend's Blackberrys, I can say it seems like a powerful replacement.

As a fan of larryroth.net, I anxiously await new posts. They are insightful and added with enthusiasm.
I do, however, have to disagree with this current post ("My first post from my iPhone", Sun, 1 Jul 2007 17:01).
Blackberry's biggest customers are the corporate world. Rich media such as audio and video make the iPhone tops, but would a manager really need their team to have the iPhone to perform basic, yet important functionality (read: MSWord/Excel/Exchange)?
Exchange, which is widespread among corp.'s, is available on the BBerry. iPhone does not support Exchange's direct pushes. Having to use intermediary devices to react to a new device is not cost-efficient, it is prohibitive.
Also, recent PSB research shows that the new 9-to-5 job has become a 24/7 cycle at the expense of the employee (read: long, underpaid, always on call hours) and what users use at work, they use at home -- HP minicomputers, Windows Media Encoder, high-tech photography equipment, etc. How is Apple responding to this, that BlackBerry's are the dominant choice for technology laced 9-to-5ers?
If e-mail is the primary functionality of the 'phone', could it replace the Blackberry? I say no. For fun and the pleasure of owning a miniscule laptop, hands down -- and hats off to the iPhone. (I still want one.)

I, too, am a fan of the erudite, insightful postings one can find only on larryroth.net.
In this case, however, I take modest exception with Wilting in Wilton. The fact that the Iphone is an instrument of pleasure recommends it all the more, especially in relation to devices of capitalistic oppression such as the Blackberry and the PC.
Remember, the corporate world oppresses humankind with its emphasis on soulless production. The Iphone is the antidote, combining cool technology and functionality with sheer enjoyment. It is not that I am advocating a hedonistic society -- heavens, no. However, Wilting in Wilton is definitely speaking in the voice of Western autocrats who fail to realize technology's capacity to conjoin pleasure with functionality.
Please also note that pleasure is indeed conducive to good work habits -- and therefore, to W O R K F L O W, the foundation on which a productive society rests. Why can't we combine pleasure with efficacy? In a manner of speaking, why can't the lion rest with the lamb?
So once again, larryroth.net prevails in its assessment of contemporary technology and its capacity to enthrall, entertain and make us more productive engines of W O R K F L O W -- not for corporate greed, but for the sheer pleasure of productivity.
Thank you, larryroth.net!
